Zelman Meats to open in Harvey Nichols, London
Goodman-owned Zelman Meats is to open its second London restaurant, this time on Harvey Nichols Fifth Floor in Knightsbridge.
The team behind Goodman steakhouses will open the new 40-cover venue on 3 August on the site of what was Polpo, serving meat dishes as well as naked and toasted oysters, for a two-year residency.
The opening comes following the launch late last year of Zelman Meats in Soho's St Anne's Court on the site of what used to be fish restaurant Rex & Mariano, also owned by Goodman.
The business is named after one of Goodman's founders, Mischa Zelman (who started the restaurant business in Moscow in 2000 along with school friend Ilya Demichev).
It takes a simple approach to meat, wine and cocktails, offering three cuts of meat on the ever-changing menu, and more specials added on a daily basis.
Starters include baked oysters and a selection of vegetable- and fish-led starters before an array of cuts of beef, from chateaubriand and picanha to smoked short ribs (smoked for a minimum of 12 hours).
Executive chef Olly Bird will also be introducing Kobe wagyu beef for its Harvey Nichols residency.
Daniela Rinaldi, group commercial director at Harvey Nichols, said: "We're thrilled to be working with Zelman Meats to bring a new hospitality offering to our Fifth Floor in Knightsbridge.
"The restaurant is revered for its cuts of beef, oysters, hot sauces, sumptuous sides, fantastic wines and cocktails, and we cannot wait to welcome them in."
Zelman Meats will be collaborating with AONO, a Brighton-born barbershop and streetwear brand headed up by Paul Hewitt with a space in the newly opened Menswear Destination at Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge.
AONO has designed the t-shirts for Zelman Meats staff and the two brands will be organising special offers and events for customers throughout the autumn.
