X Factor host Dermot O'Leary to close Fishy Fishy restaurant in Poole

X Factor host Dermot O'Leary has been forced to close his Fishy Fishy restaurant in Poole, Dorset.

The TV presenter, who first launched the group with the original restaurant in Brighton, blamed the economic climate on the closure of the site in Poole which first opened two-and-a-half years ago.

O'Leary told the Sun newspaper: "Sadly, we decided that Fishy Fishy Poole should cease trading owing to the current financial climate."

Fishy Fishy managing director James Ginzler added that a lack of customers had forced the 130-seat restaurant to shut with the loss of 13 jobs.

He said: "The customers loved it. TripAdvisor loved it. Everything was great, but you just need that critical mass of people and unfortunately it just hasn't got it.

"Poole is a great place in the summer, but you've got to look at it all year round."

O'Leary insisted that the Brighton restaurant was performing well. "Fishy Fishy Brighton continues to trade as normal," he said.
