Vapiano to double its restaurant network by 2020

Italian-cuisine restaurant brand Vapiano has announced plans to double its restaurant network in Europe by 2020.

Vapiano currently operates 185 restaurants in more than 30 countries on five continents. In the UK, there are currently four restaurants, three in London and one in Manchester with Edinburgh and Glasgow to open next.

To support the strategy, Richard Collyer has been appointed head of development. He will focus on expansion in the UK and Netherlands.

Collyer was formerly senior director at Abercrombie & Fitch and responsible for its expansion plans in both Europe and GCC countries.

Vapiano launched in 2002. The group's fourth London location is set to open in 2018.

Managing director Phil Sermon said: "We are currently building Edinburgh and will start in site in Glasgow later this month after that we have secured the next restaurant site at Centrepoint in London and are actively seeking more opportunities for Vapiano to expand further in the UK."
