US ‘cronut' inventor Dominique Ansel to open second UK bakery
Dominique Ansel will open his second UK bakery in London's Covent Garden in the Spring.
Known for his croissant-doughnut crossover - the cronut - and Instagram friendly interiors, Ansel's new opening will be his seventh worldwide joining five outlets in the US and one in Tokyo.
It is unclear how, or if, the site will differ from his other UK outlet in Victoria. In other locations such as New York and Los Angeles, his secondary sites have offered different menus and approaches to the chef's brand of high quality, French-inspired patisserie.
Writing on Instagram, Ansel said: "Surprise, London! Excited to announce we will be opening our 2nd shop across the pond, coming to Covent Garden in Spring 2019.
"We'll keep you all posted with updates over the next few months. Really excited for this one."
It comes as several high profile brands move into the Covent Garden area - including Sushisamba which launched on 1 November, and a potential rival to the Dominique Ansel opening - Fergus Henderson's St John Bakery.
