Tuk Shop Thai brand closes and reverts to Leon format
Healthy fast food brand Leon has closed down its Thai concept Tuk Shop in its London Shaftesbury Avenue branch, which will now revert to the Leon format.
Leon launched Tuk Shop as a pop-up joint venture with Bangkok-based food group Aylmer Aaharn in April, offering a range of curries, noodles, rice dishes and salads.
However, the firm promised that it would return elsewhere in the capital soon, keeping alive co-founder John Vincent's ambition for Tuk Shop to spread throughout the UK eventually.
In a statement, a Leon spokesperson said: "Our Shaftesbury Avenue location has stopped trading as Tuk Shop and is re-opening as a Leon tomorrow.
"Tuk Shop will be popping up again soon though at another central London location. Our plan has always been, and still is, to roll out the Tuk Shop concept once it's ready. Keeping it as a pop up for now will allow us to stay dynamic as the menu evolves and we learn what works and what doesn't. We'll let you know when we announce our next location."
