Tong Chee Hwee and Street XO's David Muñoz collaborate for Golden Week

Hakkasan executive chef Tong Chee Hwee and Street XO's David Muñoz are to create a new menu together, celebrating the Chinese festival of Golden Week at Hakkasan Hanway Place and Mayfair.

The menu will be a fusion of the chefs' styles, combining chef Tong's complex flavoured Chinese dishes with a modern twist and Muñoz's creative take on fine-dining drawing on Mediterranean and East Asian influences.

MuÁ±oz said: "When I first came to London, I had only cooked in Mediterranean restaurants. I had one meal at Hakkasan and it was a revelation. I knew I had to work there. I watched and I learned and I practiced the techniques and recipes I saw in the kitchen and this is how I began to develop my own style that you see at StreetXO. It is an honour to work alongside chef Tong to bring my own ideas back to Hakkasan for this special Golden Week menu".

Tong added: "I'm delighted to be working with chef David MuÁ±oz again. We worked together many years ago in the Hakkasan kitchen at the beginning of his illustrious career, so it's wonderful to be back here creating a new menu together. I'm excited to work with Chef David to bring his bold and innovative approach to Hakkasan. It's a unique collaboration and will be a truly special experience for Golden Week this year".

Golden Week is one of China's biggest national holidays, spanning seven days in October where all workers are given three days of paid time off. The holiday marks the founding of the Republic of China and takes place between 1 and 7 October.
