The Great House in Lavenham for sale for £1.38m

The freehold of the three-AA-rosette, Great House restaurant with rooms in Lavenham, Suffolk, has been put up for sale for £1.38m.

The five-bedroom, Grade II-listed property, which has been awarded five gold stars in the AA's restaurant with rooms category, was built in the 14th century. Owners Regis Crépy and his wife Martine are selling the property after 32 years, having left their native France for the UK in the early 1980s.

The 55-cover restaurant has a heated courtyard which also offers seating for a further 30 in summer.

Tim Gooding, director of Christie & Co's Ipswich office, which is marketing the property, said: "The Great House is one of the premier hospitality businesses in East Anglia. The current owners are extremely well regarded in the trade having had a number of very successful food-based operations throughout the region over the years. The property has been refurbished to an excellent quality and we expect a high level of demand from both operators and residential buyers."
