TGI Friday's to open Milton Keynes restaurant

American food and cocktail chain TGI Friday's has announced it is to open a 266-seat restaurant in Milton Keynes, creating 85 jobs. This brings the total of outlets in the UK to 64.

The restaurant, which will open in the MK1 Leisure Park on 19 November, is being billed as the company's most environmentally friendly.

Solar PV panels on the roof will generate part of the building's electrical supply.

The restaurant will also feature an open-plan "shotgun" kitchen, allowing diners to sit at the grill to watch their food being cooked. The focal point, however, will be an island bar serving cocktails.

The 85 vacancies are for roles both front and back of house and new employees will receive training through the TGI Friday's Academy.

The restaurant's general manager, Antonia Osborne said: "We pride ourselves on not just offering jobs, but careers at Fridays."
