Suffolk restaurant for sale for £1.2m

A thriving restaurant in the picture postcard Suffolk village of Long Melford is for sale at an asking price of £1.2m.

Scutchers restaurant, which is listed in the Michelin guide, occupies a Grade II-listed detached building full of exposed timers that was once a medieval Hall House.

The current owners have built up a profitable business out of what had been a semi-derelict pub when they acquired it in 1991.

Scutchers incorporates a main, 70-seat restaurant across varying floor levels, a seven-seat lounge, and a three-bedroom owners' flat on the first floor with a kitchen/dining area, lounge, bathroom and laundry room.

Outside, the property has car parking facilities, a patio area, a bandstand that can seat 30, and an enclosed vegetable patch with an asparagus bed.

The Norwich office of Colliers Robert Barry is seeking offers in the region of £1.2m for the property's 999-year lease (an effective freehold) which commenced on 1 May 1999.
