Staff arrested at Conran's Quaglino's

Police and immigration officials have arrested five members of staff after a raid on Conran London restaurant Quaglino's.

Conran Restaurants yesterday confirmed the raid, saying: "The Home Office did conduct an investigation on the evening of 11 January into personal documentation of some of Quaglino's foreign national employees.

"This investigation does not relate to the manner in which Quaglino's has processed employment. In this respect, it has been established that as an employer, Quaglino's has followed all the requisite controls and procedures."

A spokeswoman for the Home Office confirmed the raid and said five people had been arrested in an "intelligence led" operation.

She said: "We will seek to remove anyone found in the UK illegally as soon as possible. Investigations are ongoing."
