Six of the best get extra star in Welsh eating out guide

The six most outstanding restaurants in Wales have been singled out for a new gold star award in the 2005 edition of the Dining Out in Wales guide.

The new award recognises the restaurants that match the highest standards found in the UK and Europe and surpass the existing gold award.

The cream of the crop include two restaurants with rooms - the Plas Bodegroes in Pwllheli, Gwynedd, and the Tyddyn Llan in Llandrillo, Clwyd.

Two country house hotels - Ynyshir Hall in Machynlleth, Powys and Bodysgallen Hall in Llandudno, Gwynedd - also made the grade.

The other gold star winners are the Carlton House restaurant in Llanwrtyd Wells, Powys, and Le Gallois-Y Cymro in the suburbs of Cardiff.
