Santo Remedio in London closes

Mexican restaurant Santo Remedio in Shoreditch, London, has closed.

Owners Edson and Natalie Diaz-Fuentes (pictured) said they were forced to close due to problems outside their control but were unable to offer further information when approached by The Caterer.

Santo Remedio's Twitter account shows that the restaurant closed for "some maintenance work" on 31 July, and then remained closed as a result of "essential electrical works" being required before it could reopen.

Santo Remedio opened earlier this year and received good reviews from critics. The London Evening Standard called it "friendly and relaxed, while still being ground-breaking and noteworthy in the 2016 restaurant landscape", while Jay Rayner of The Observer raved about the restaurant's tacos, calling them "tiny parcels of joy".

Husband and wife team, Edson and Natalie, are now looking to start over in a new location.
