San Carlo restaurant group to launch venue on rooftop of Selfridges in Oxford Street

A partnership between Selfridges and San Carlo restaurant group will see a venue open on the roof of the iconic Oxford Street department store this Spring.

Alto by San Carlo will open on 26 April offering seasonal Italian dishes in a rooftop garden.

Guests will access the venue via an express lift opening into a floral installation studded with Italian chinotto fruit.

Bruce Langlands, Selfridges' food and restaurants director said: "In our sixth year of hosting rooftop concepts, alto by San Carlo will bring a fresh and exciting Italian dining concept to our customers. The vibrant new menu, ambience and beautiful drinking terrace will be a destination this spring, and we look forward to welcoming customers to the space when we open in April."

Dishes offered at the rooftop restaurant will include a roasted shellfish sharer for two of king prawns, scallops, mussels, clams and langoustines; fillet of seabass cooked in black volcanic salt from Mount Etna, Sicilly, and truffle and pecorino ravioli.

The venue, which will have a retractable roof, will feature a restaurant, sun terrace and bar.

Alto by San Carlo will open from Monday to Saturday, 11.30am to 11pm and on Sunday from 11.30am to 6pm.
