Restaurateur Edmond Davi closes Plymouth restaurants

Plymouth restaurateur Edmond Davari has closed his four restaurants in the city, after his company went into liquidation.

Davari ran Souk, Asia Chic, Rocco y Lola and Zucca but closed all of them last week, according to the m.thisisdevon.co.uk/story.html?aid=19611449">http://m.thisisdevon.co.uk/story.html?aid=19611449" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">Plymouth Herald.

He has been a presence on the Plymouth restaurant scene for decades, having opened his first restaurant in Plymouth nearly 30 years ago, but had been struggling to keep the business going since the onset of the recession. In 2011, he was forced to slash menu prices and make 40 people redundant at the restaurants, all of which are located on Sutton Harbour.

Davari, who said he had fought to keep the business open for the sake of his staff told the paper: "It is 30 years' work gone out of the door and I am distraught. I am in a daze at the moment because I have seen the furniture being moved out this morning. I can't believe it's happened."
