Rainer Becker to open two new Roka restaurants in 2014

Rainer Becker is to open two new Roka restaurants in 2014.

Roka Mayfair will open in February followed by Roka Aldwych in the summer.

Becker already runs Roka in London's Charlotte Street, with a sister site in Canary Wharf and one in Hong Kong.

All the restaurants are in the Japanese robatayaki style, where food is slow-grilled over hot charcoal on a robata grill.

Becker, who spent a decade in Japan, founded both the Zuma and Roka chains.

The founding Roka and Shochu Lounge on Charlotte Street was opened in 2004.

Roka Mayfair, on North Audley Street, will be a "relaxed yet elegant" dining destination, whereas Roka Aldwych will offer new and different design elements in both the restaurant and bar.

Group executive chef, Hamish Brown, has designed a contemporary Japanese menu that offers a variety of Roka dishes alongside new creations specific to each location.
