Q Grill opens winter pop-up at London ice rink

Open since 1 November, Q on Ice is taking up a 17-week residency in the area's Canada Square Park, and is the third pop-up from the group after summer's On the Roof with Q at department store Selfridges, and the recently-launched Alpine-inspired site called Le Chalet, which replaced it.

Based on the original Q Grill restaurant in Camden, which opened in March, the menu has been created by executive chef Lee Bull.

It is designed to offer "winter warmers" based on healthy, grilled ingredients, such as charred Cornish hot wings, barbecue crispy duck in a pretzel bun, plus seared tuna with Japanese horseradish. The drinks list includes a selection of craft beers and chocolate-themed cocktails (or "chocktails").

The site, which is located next to the 1,100sq m temporary ice rink, will also have an outdoor viewing terrace.

The new venue is the latest in the Des McDonald Restaurants portfolio, from the former head chef and group chief executive of the Caprice Group. Other sites include the Fish & Chip Shop in Islington, and the Holborn Dining Room within the Rosewood London hotel, Holborn.
