Pierre Gagnaire to open Dubais's Festival City development

Award-winning French chef Pierre Gagnaire is set to open in Dubai's Festival City development this autumn.

Gagnaire, who is credited as being at the front of the fusion movement in France, already has an eponymous restaurant in Paris, London's Sketch, a restaurant in Tokyo and a recently opened restaurant in the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Hong Kong.

A year in negotiation, the new 40-seat site will open in mixed-use development Festival City in October.

Its look will be handled by the same designer as that of Gaya, his seafood restaurant, also in Paris.

Festival City will ultimately feature 90 restaurants, cafés and bistros, as well as more than 500 shops, centred on a waterfront development. It will also feature housing, hotels and office space set across 1,300 acres of land near Dubai's International Airport.
