Orchid appoints David Bernstein as chairman

Pub and restaurant operator Orchid Group has appointed David Bernstein (pictured) as its new non-executive chairman.

Bernstein has previously worked as chairman of Blacks Leisure Group, Manchester City Football Club, Wembley National Stadium, French Connection Group and Sports and Leisure Group. He was also joint managing director of Pentland Group and is currently on the boards of Carluccio's and Ted Baker.

Commenting on his new role, Bernstein said: "Orchid is at a significant stage in its development, and I'm incredibly excited to be part of it. I intend to work closely with the management team to ensure the continuation of Orchid's success and to help the company fulfil its ambitious growth plans."

Rufus Hall, chief executive of the Orchid Group added: "We are delighted to welcome David to the board of Orchid as non-executive chairman. He brings a successful track record and his experience will strengthen the Orchid board as the company moves forward with the next phase of development."
