New owner for waterside restaurant in Brixham

Lee Tyrrell is the new owner of the landmark Breakwater restaurant in the Devon resort and fishing port of Brixham.

The two-storey property sits on the water's edge at Brixham Breakwater overlooking the cove and beach.

There is also a takeaway kiosk serving beach-goers who want to picnic on the sands.

It's a first-time venture for Tyrrell as a sole restaurateur, although he has gained experience in catering helping his parents run care homes for the elderly in Paignton.

Tyrrell plans to keep the restaurant open all year round and expand the daytime café into a sophisticated bistro and restaurant in the evenings. He has taken on a new chef to launch a new menu majoring on local fish and seafood.

Property agent Bettesworth sold the long-term lease off an asking price of £245,000 on behalf of Simon and Christine Bales. There are 26 years remaining on the original 30-year lease.
