New details on new Notting Hill Polpo site as opening confirmed
Italian-style small-plates group Polpo has confirmed that it is to open a new Notting Hill site on 31 May.
News of the Notting Hill location initially broke in October last year.
Initially expected to run to 100 covers, the fourth Polpo site from restaurateur duo Russell Norman and Richard Beatty will actually seat 120, with a kitchen overseen by former head chef of the Benugo group, Jason Wass.
Managing front of house will be Alexis Ross, formerly of another of Norman's sites, Mishkin's.
The new Polpo will offer a 50% off discount on food for the first weekend, with bookings required for lunch but not dinner.
Part of the Russell Norman group of restaurants, pubs and bar, Polpo already runs to three sites across London, including in Soho, Covent Garden, and Smithfield.
It serves an Italian-inspired menu designed for sharing, from "cicheti" plates such as arancini; salami butter and broad bean crostini; lamb and mint, or beef and pork, meatballs; braised scallops; grilled meats; potatoes with rosemary and classic desserts such as tiramisu, and strawberry and basil pannacotta.
There is also a smaller offshoot of the brand, Polpetto, which recently relocated to Berwick Street after initially opening in Beak Street, in the heart of Soho.
Norman's other brands include Spuntino, also in Soho, and the pub Ape & Bird, in Seven Dials.
