New brasserie Blixen from Clive Watson to open in February 2015

A new all-day brasserie named Blixen, from Village London founder Clive Watson, is set to open in Old Spitalfields Market in February 2015.

The informal, two-storey, 120-seat site will serve an all-day food menu, plus drinks and cocktails in its cocktail bar, and also feature an18-seat private finding room. First announced in September this year, the new site will take the place of the former Italian restaurant Sweet Basil.

The emphasis will be on fresh, simple food and coffee, plus a small wine list, and a selection of yet-to-be-finalised original cocktails.

Blixen will be the first Watson site away from his Village London group, which includes the London Bermondsey gastropub the Garrison (opened in 2003), European brasserie Village East (2006) and the Riding House Café, another all-day brasserie, near Oxford Circus (2011).

Each site serves breakfast-to-dinner dishes such as kedgeree, salads, grills, fish, European-inspired sides and desserts, and weekend brunch.
