Nando's to open at Intu Potteries, Stoke-on-Trent
Portuguese-style chicken chain Nando's is to open at the Intu Potteries shopping park in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, in August 2015.
The 5,000 sq ft site will be part of the new £20m catering and leisure extension at Intu Potteries, which itself forms part of Intu's planned £1b investment in the area over the next 10 years.
The restaurant will join other popular brands Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Chiquito, PizzaExpress and Frankie & Benny's, as well as a 1,100-seat Cineworld cinema.
The news comes after a public consultation on the site found that Nando's was the most popular choice for the new space, and a successful campaign on social networking website Facebook in favour of the move.
Martin Breeden, regional director of Intu, said: "Stoke-on-Trent is a rapidly changing area that is underserved by big name restaurants. Nando's will be a buzzing place and a welcome addition to the range of top brands at the centre."
The news was well-received on Twitter, with several users tweeting positively. A user called @Drvcarys wrote: "I can't believe that Stoke is finally getting a Nando's!" , while another named @Tom_Mullock echoed this, saying: "Finally getting a Nando's in Stoke!".
