Mother's Day and BST this Sunday
Chefs, publicans and hoteliers beware! This Sunday (26 March) is a double whammy as it's Mother's Day and the official start of British Summer Time (BST).
For those fearful of keeping their mothers and guests waiting, it's worth remembering the old aide memoir: "spring forward, fall back", to make sure you put the clocks forward an hour from 12.59am on Sunday.
The bad news is, of course, that the move to BST means losing an hour of extremely valuable sleep, but some consolation should come from the prospect of more and more customers staying out longer to drink and dine.
