‘Modern Iranian' restaurant Nutshell to open in Covent Garden in July

Former head chef of the Palomar Jeremy Borrow will be at the helm of "modern Iranian" restaurant Nutshell opening in Covent Garden in July.

Owners Marwa Alkhalaf and Mohammad Paknejad have said the restaurant will "re-create the warm, welcoming atmosphere of home in a contemporary setting and offer a feast for the senses".

Dishes will include tahdig, a scorched rice dish with a crispy, golden, buttery crust served alongside rich, warming stews. Nutshell will utilise the flavours and herbs of Iran exploring the cuisine of its diverse regions.

The restaurant will serve a menu of sharing plates across 86-covers split over two floors, with an open kitchen and counter seating on the ground floor as well as second bar upstairs.

Nutshell was initially trialled via a pop-up last year with ex-Noma chef Leonardo Pereira.
