McDonald's reports strong UK market as Q1 figures revealed

Fast food giant McDonald's has reported good performance in the UK, France and Russia, as it revealed a 1.4% sales increase in Europe for the first quarter to March this year.

The company said its operating income in the region rose 6%, but that the strong performances in those countries were partially offset by continued weakness in Germany.

Globally, the company saw global comparable sales rise 0.5%, reflecting a higher average spend per head, despite "negative guest traffic" in the US and the Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa regions.
