Matthew Mawtus appointed manager-sommelier at 1 Lombard Street

Matthew Mawtus has been appointed manager-sommelier at 1 Lombard Street in London. He joins the restaurant-bar from Orrery, where he was restaurant manager, and has previously held management and sommelier roles at L'Etranger and Gordon Ramsay at Claridges. Scottish-born Mawtus took a BA in hospitality management at the University of Glasgow. He won the UK Young Waiter of the Year in 2007, was awarded two "goblets" in Wine Spectator, and he won the AA award in 2009 for restaurant manager.
