Matt Gillan announces departure from Pike & Pine and Red Rooster

Matt Gillan has announced his departure from Pike & Pine and Red Rooster in Brighton, teasing that he "might be looking at a new restaurant site".

The chef took to social media to reveal he would leaving the café/restaurant after Christmas.

Writing on Facebook, he said: "This Christmas will see Pike & Pine see out its final service. At this time I will also be moving on. It has been a great couple of years. Some serious graft has gone into this place and I'm super proud of what myself and the team have achieved, given the complexity of our dual offer."

The chef added that he would be writing up his CV and focusing on "not so new" private events company Random Precision. He also wrote: "Oh. And I might be looking at a new restaurant site."

Earlier this year Gillan launched new casual dining brand Electro Pirate as he took over the food offering at the Foresters Arms in Horsham.

The chef, who appeared in series eight and 10 of the BBC's Great British Menu, had previously held a Michelin star at the Pass restaurant in the South Lodge hotel in Lower Beeding, near Horsham.

His CV also includes stints at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, London; the Vineyard at Stockcross, Berkshire; and Midsummer House in Cambridge.
