Locatelli seeks pop-up site after Hyatt Regency gas explosion

Giorgio Locatelli is on the hunt for a pop-up location for Locanda Locatelli, following a gas explosion at the restaurant's permanent home, the Hyatt Regency London - The Churchill.

The hotel on Portman Square was rocked by an explosion, in which 14 staff were injured, just before 12am on Saturday.

Around 400 people were evacuated to a neighbouring hotel after the blast in the hotel basement.

Six fire engines and 35 firefighters attended the scene, alongside a dangerous structures engineer and the gas authorities.

Now Locatelli has hired property agent Twentyretail to help acquire a pop-up so that the restaurant can trade over Christmas, while the hotel, which has been its home for 12 years, is repaired.

Locatelli is understood to be looking for an A3 site with extraction with around 2,500-6,000 sq ft in central London.
