A new Loco is about to hit London's streets, this time designed by Paul Daly (of Hoxton fame), which means earthy tones, exposed brickwork, aubergine walls and chocolate leather banquettes. Opens: 17 June Owners: Tony Allan Executive chef: Nick Melmoth Coombs (formerly at Spiga and Carluccio's) Food: pizza and pasta are made on site, with local produce used where possible. This new restaurant is the first food offering from actor Sir Michael Caine since Canteen in 1992. This time it's all about Indian cuisine, with an interesting but affordable menu as well as five-course tasting menus for meat eaters and veggies Opened: 8 June Owners: Sir Michael Caine with Claudio Pulze and Raj Sharma (the men behind Al Duca, Aubergine and Zaika) Head chef: Sanjay Dwivedi (formerly at Zaika) Food: We'd definitely try pretty much anything, but scallops poached in coconut milk to start, followed by snapper masala and washed down with a Hara Deya cocktail (vodka, absinthe, lime, yogurt, melon and Tabasco - ouch!) sounds good Seats: 70 covers, 30-seat bar Crowd: All lovers of Indian food Average food spend: lunch £21.50, dinner £30-£35 Address: 34 Portman Square, London W1H 7BY Tel: 020 7224 0028 ### Be At One, London

This burgeoning bar chain has just opened its third operation, this time breaking into London's West End. Incredibly for the times, it's not claiming to be a new-style bar but more of a locals-style joint. The decor is bright (mustard walls) and the music cheesy - think seventies funk and eighties classics to old school rock - but it's all about comfort and having a good time. Opened: 31 May Owners: Steve Locke, Rhys Oldfield and Leigh Miller - all ex-TGI Friday's Drinks: 150 cocktails, as well as the usual beers and wine Capacity: 120 Crowd: Relaxed, fun, up for it Average cocktail price: £4.70 Address: 23 Wellington Street, London WC2E 7DA Tel: 020 7240 9889
