Ikoyi permanent site to open in summer 2017
Ikoyi, a restaurant specialising in West African cuisine which has so far existed in pop-up form only, is to open its first permanent site in London next month.
Named after a neighbourhood in Lagos, Nigeria, it is the first restaurant for Jeremy Chan and Iré Hassan-Odukale, will open at 1 St. James's Market later this year.
Chef and co-founder Chan has worked and undertaken stages in restaurants including Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, Noma and Claude Bosi's former Hibiscus.
Iré, inspired by his family roots in Nigeria, will manage front of house operations.
The pair said: "Ikoyi will interpret West African ingredients and cooking, linking it to its roots and former influences. We believe this will give rise to a new kind of cuisine, one that is applicable to a wider, global audience. Our objective is ultimately to create delicious food, but underlying this is a greater ambition, to understand and develop our perspective of West African food and its origins."
