Hawksmoor reveals new Asian-inspired menu for Knightsbridge site

London steak group Hawksmoor is to introduce significant Asian influences to its menu when it opens its new site in Knightsbridge on 3 July, it has revealed.

Each Hawksmoor venue aims to offer something a bit different, and this site will reflect founders Will Beckett and Huw Gott's recent travels around Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and China, particularly when it comes to the seafood and shellfish options.

Developed by group chef Richard Turner, the new options will include citrus scallops with chilli and ginger; devilled Brixham lobster; Vietnamese style oysters; lobster roll with sriracha; plus the steamed and roasted shellfish platter. It will also serve the usual Hawksmoor menu of British-reared beef cooked over charcoal.

New desserts will come from group pastry chef Carla Henriques, who has developed new flavours of the restaurant's nostalgic "Rolo" options, as well as a dessert-sized nod to chocolate brand Ferrero Rocher; a Summer Baba with a sort of homemade Pimm's, instead of rum; and roast peaches with lime ice-cream.

The wine list will include new varieties chosen by wine manager Mark Quick, as well as several from private cellars in California and France.

Founded by bar and restaurateur friends Beckett and Gott in 2006, the rapidly-growing Hawksmoor currently runs to four sites across London, including the original Sptialfields site, the Guildhall and London Piccadilly. The duo also runs neighbourhood restaurant Foxlow, which opened in 2013.

Commenting on the new opening, Gott said: "I've been a little obsessed with Asian culture and food for a long time, have travelled to Japan many times, and my wife is from Tokyo. Asia trips gave me the confidence to try a few new things at Hawksmoor Knightsbridge."
