Harvey Nichols to launch new Champagne bar next month
A new champagne bar is opening on the fifth floor of the flagship Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge, London, this autumn.
The Belle Époque Champagne Bar is launching at the Knightsbridge store on 22 October, in collaboration with Champagne Perrier-Jouët. It replaces the Fifth Floor Cocktail Bar, which closed yesterday.
Champagne and a cocktail list will be the main focus at the 100-cover bar, with tastings of champagnes and vintages such as the rare Belle Époque Blanc de Blancs and the Methuselahs and Salmanazars of Cuvee Belle Époque being paired with a ‘bite size' seafood tasting menu created by Swedish executive chef Jonas Karlsson.
Designed by Shaun Clarkson ID, the bar's interior takes influence from Emile Gallé's 1902 anemone design for the Cuvée Belle Époque champagne bottle, with bespoke commissioned artworks by Swedish photographer Barbro Andersson.
The news of the opening comes shortly after Caterersearch reported a drop in Champagne production due to falling exports.
