Hamburger Union unveils first overseas franchise deal

Hamburger Union has unveiled details of its first overseas franchise deal, signing an agreement to open 10 sites in the Gulf region over the next five years.

The gourmet burger chain, which has six sites in the UK, all in London, yesterday revealed it has inked a deal with Kuwait's ITC Corporation.

Although the company is a direct rival to Clapham House-owned Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Fine Burger Company and Ultimate Burger, founder Hugh Fowler said he is "not interested in positioning ourselves as poncy or gourmet", according to The Times.
