Good Food Guide reveals 10 regional Restaurants of the Year
The Good Food Guide has today announced the 10 regional winners of its Restaurant of the Year Awards, including Orwells for the South-east and Edinburgh's Ondine for Scotland.
More than 27,500 people voted for their favourite local independent restaurant to produce a shortlist of regional winners.
One of the 10 regional winners will be named as the overall Good Food Guide Restaurant of the Year at an award ceremony at King's Place, London, on 23 June 2011. They are:
Wales: Cwtch, Pembrokeshire
East of England: Roger Hickman's Restaurant, Norwich
London: Retro Bistrot, Teddington
Midlands: Edmunds, Birmingham
Northern Ireland: Molly's Yard, Belfast
North-west: Spire, Liverpool
North-east: Salvo's, Leeds
Scotland: Ondine, Edinburgh
South-east: Orwells, Shiplake
South-west: The Mill Tea & Dining Room, Lyme Regis
Elizabeth Carter, consultant editor of the Good Food Guide, said: "Championing great restaurants is at the very heart of what we do - we love to celebrate excellent food and service.
"We are thrilled to announce such a strong field of regional winners in our Restaurant of the Year Awards today, all of whom demonstrate what a flourishing culinary scene we have right across the UK."
