Gondola Group scores hat-trick at Peach's Hero and Icon awards
Gondola Group has won a hat-trick of awards at the annual Hero and Icon Awards, hosted by leisure consultancy Peach.
Byron, the casual-dining operator's burger chain, collected the Breakthrough Brand award, while Zizzi was named the People's Choice and PizzaExpress scooped the Technology innovation award.
Other winners included TGI Friday's boss Karen Forrester and the Jamie's Italian chain, picking up the two Leadership Awards; Red Hot World Buffet was identified as Newcomer; JD Wetherspoon collected the People Development award; and Harvester was named Evolutionary Brand.
Bryon was singled out for bringing simplicity, style and freshness to the burger market. Zizzi was rewarded for its high customer satisfaction ratings and PizzaExpress was recognised for technological innovation, such as its iPhone app and contactless payment initiatives.
Peter Martin, CEO of Peach, said: "These are the brands, companies and individuals that have impressed most over the year and it's clear from our winners that there is no shortage of inspirational leadership in this business."
