Former GBK boss named as Burger King UK's new CEO

Former Gourmet Burger Kitchen boss Alasdair Murdoch has been revealed as Burger King UK's new CEO.

It was revealed that Murdoch had left GBK in November shortly after the company announced poor trading results. He had been with the burger company for seven years, after leaving Pizza Express.

Burger King UK was formed in November 2017, after private equity firm Bridgepoint purchased the rights to the brand in the UK as well as acquiring its major franchisee Caspian UK and its 74 outlets.

Murdoch said: "Working closely with our franchisees, we will take a measured approach to improving customer attraction and retention through investment in improving the consumer experience, our food offering, restaurants, teams and franchisees as we build a brand for the next generation."
