Flood-hit York restaurant to stay closed for rest of 2016

The Blue Bicycle restaurant in York has announced it is expected to remain closed for the rest of the year as a result of the floods of December 2015.

The restaurant and rooms in the basement and low level areas have been damaged, according to a statement on the restaurant's website, and the business said it has contacted customers to cancel and refund all booking until the end of the year.

A post on the website said: "We are working tirelessly to reopen as soon as possible but due to both the extent of the damage and the number of our properties affected, the work will take some time yet to complete."

The Blue Bicycle could not confirm a specific date for reopening.
