Five people were injured when the balcony of a West Yorkshire restaurant collapsed.

One person, who is believed to be the restaurant's owner Jack McDaid, was airlifted to hospital following the incident at Casa restaurant in Brighouse.

Three more people with serious injuries were taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary by ambulances.

Emergency services were called to the restaurant just before noon, reported the Yorkshire Post.

The Health and Safety Executive and Calderdale Council are thought to have been informed.
