Fire breaks out at Rick Stein restaurant in Porthleven

Firefighters from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service were battling a fire at Rick Stein's seafood restaurant in Porthleven in the early hours of this morning.

A spokesperson for Rick Stein said: "I can confirm that a fire broke out in the early hours of this morning, Monday 12 June, in the bin store annexe at our restaurant in Porthleven. We're very pleased to report that no-one was injured and there is no structural damage to the restaurant itself.

"Cornwall Fire, Rescue and Community Safety Service were extremely quick to respond and did a fantastic job in containing and extinguishing the fire. They have assessed the damage and a routine fire investigation is underway to establish the cause of the fire. We'd like to offer our thanks to the Cornwall Fire Service and our restaurant team. We are working to re-open tomorrow evening.

"Although it's unable to be confirmed due to the investigation, conversations with the officer suggest that it is unlikely to be deliberate due to position and nature of the fire but they cannot rule anything out until they have finished their investigation."

A statement from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service added: "Firefighters from Helston, Tolvaddon and Mullion have been dealing with a fully involved property fire tonight. At the height of the incident the incident was sectorised into two sectors; with firefighters using four hose reel jets and two main jets to bring the fire under control. At 4.21am firefighters from Helston remain on scene, using breathing apparatus to damp down."

Huge thank you to & . Most importantly no-one hurt. Currently assessing damage, update to follow.
