Fine dining restaurant near Newbury changes hands

First-time buyers Peter Watling and family from Stokenchurch in Buckinghamshire have snapped up The Harrow fine dining restaurant on Newbury Downs.

The whitewashed pub and restaurant overlooks the duck pond and cricket green in the
village of West Ilsely, near Newbury. It is listed in The Good Food Guide, Time Out and The Good Pub Guide.

The property, which has been run by Alan Berry for the past three years, has seating for 35 people in the bar and for another 30 in the dining room.

It was originally owned by the Morland Brewery. The freehold is now owned by national pub operator Greene King.

The Milton Keynes office of Christie & Co sold the property for slightly below the £160,000 guide price for the remaining 10 years on the leasehold.
