Expanding Gourmet Buffet chain to test Italian format

The Gourmet Buffet chain of Oriental restaurants is to test out a new concept within a former Prezzo restaurant in Ilford, Essex.

The chain has bought the site, in Ilford's Iscene Leisure Development, for £38,700 and intends to test an Italian "unlimited eating" buffet concept similar to its current Chinese format.

The transaction is expected to complete this week and the restaurant will then open for business in about four weeks' time.

It will be Gourmet Buffet's fifth restaurant, but the first with an Italian format.

Other restaurants within the Iscene development include a Nando's and a Frankie & Benny's.

The agent for Prezzo was Davis Coffer Lyons.
