Exclusive: Chef David Simms to head up Compass' RA and Levy brands

Compass UK & Ireland has appointed chef David Simms as culinary director of its Restaurant Associates and Levy Leisure brands.

The move marks a return to the business for Simms who has held the position of managing director of the Corrigan Collection, including Bentleys Oyster Bar and Corrigan's Mayfair, since summer 2017.

Commenting on his appointment, Simms said: "Restaurant Associates has a rich culinary heritage, serving many of Britain's most prestigious organisations. I'm looking forward to working side by side with our clients and our talented chefs to continue delivering top quality dining offers."

Simms will have responsibility for culinary development, supply chain and culinary training reporting to Alice Woodwark, managing director of both Restaurant Associates and Levy Leisure.

Before joining the Corrigan Collection Simms was managing director of Simon Rogan's Umbel Restaurant Group, prior to which he held the position of hospitality executive chef at Compass' Restaurant Associates between 2005 and 2012.

Woodwark commented: "David brings significant culinary kudos to our team and truly reinforces our position as the leaders in food service and innovation. He has a wealth of Michelin-starred-restaurant experience, a passion for training and talent development and a genuinely innovative approach to food service. We're thrilled to welcome him back to our team."

Fine-dining concept Restaurant Associates counts banking organisations, boutique law firms and independent media agencies among its clients while Levy Leisure is the official catering partner at cultural, historical and visitor attractions in the UK including Somerset House, IWM Duxford, Salisbury Cathedral, the Glyndebourne Festival and Edinburgh Zoo.
