Drake & Morgan to open seventh site in London's Farringdon

Bar group Drake & Morgan is to open its seventh site in London's Farringdon in February 2014.

The 436-seater, 10,000 sq ft The Fable will open from 7.30am and serve breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. At across three floors, it will also have space for over 1,000 people standing, and an 80-seater outside space with plants, umbrellas and heaters.

It had been reported that the new bar would be named The Haberdashery, but it was today confirmed that this particular site will be known as The Fable.

Its menu will also offer Sunday Roasts, and the usual Drake & Morgan list of cocktails and beers, plus an extensive wine list. There will also be a deli selling fresh Borough Market bread, cured hams, cheese and condiments, while a "masterclass" area will focus on skills such as butchery, flambéing and cocktail mixology.

Designed by Fusion Design and Architecture Ltd, the interior will mix leather, wood, textured wallpaper and rich fabrics with warm colours and floor-to-ceiling windows, in a bid to create a "relaxed, elegant and luxurious" feel.

Guests who book beforehand will be offered the standard Drake & Morgan food and drink packages, including platters ready upon arrival, while the site will also look to attract business meetings and events.

Managing director Jillian MacLean confirmed that the new launch was part of the brand's wider expansion plan, and that she was looking forward to bringing the concept to a new area of the city.
She added: "There are many more exciting openings in the pipeline."

A deal with Bowmark Capital in April has helped spur on this most recent expansion drive, but the company has even said it hopes to open up to eight more London sites in future, and may even consider a nationwide roll-out in the longer-term.
