Domino's enjoys strong 2005

Domino's Pizza enjoyed strong sales growth in the UK & Ireland last year, topped off by a solid performance over Christmas.

In the 52 weeks ended 1 January 2006 like-for-like sales growth increased by 7.1% year-on-year, and in the six weeks to 1 January like-for-like sales increased by 3.6%

Domino's online and interactive TV services also proved increasingly popular with consumers over the Christmas period, with year-on-year sales growth running at 57.6%.

An aggressive expansion plan saw Domino's open 50 new stores last year, compared with 40 in 2005, taking its grand total to 407.

Company chief executive Stephen Hemsley said: "I am confident that our company will deliver full-year results ahead of current market expectations."

Domino's full-year results will be announced on 27 February.
