DJ Chris Evans in Hampshire restaurant joint venture

Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans has partnered with a Hampshire businessman to re-open a New Forest restaurant, following its major refurbishment.

The BBC presenter has teamed up with Rob Smith, who he has known for several years, for the new venture in Lymington.

The pair were rumoured to be collaborating on the operation of the Haven @ the Monkee House, formerly the Tollhouse Inn, where Smith has been based since the Haven closed for refurbishment.

However it has now been confirmed that they will work together on the Haven instead, following a deal signed over the weekend, reported the Bournemouth Daily Echo.

The new look restaurant and bar is expected to re-open at Easter.

"He's still got his radio show and his other pubs but the door is open to him 24/7."

Evans tweeted his involvement in the business: "Absolutely delighted to be involved with Rob Smith and his family in The (new) Haven bar and restaurant in Lymington. Very excited indeed."
