D&D launches latest Stateside site at Hudson Yards
D&D London has opened its Queensyard restaurant, bar and café within Manhattan's Hudson Yards development in New York City.
Located on the fourth level of the development, Queensyard overlooks the Hudson river and Thomas Heatherwick's Vessel structure and joins a collection of brands, offices and dining spots including Thomas Keller's latest restaurant TAK Room.
Bringing ‘a flavour of London to New York', British-born chef Owen Sullivan is overseeing the menu across the spaces, which include: an informal, 80-cover kitchen restaurant; a sophisticated 110-cover dining room for more formal dining; a 50-cover cocktail bar; a café which turns into an evening wine bar; and a 12-cover private dining room.
The kitchen serves classic British staples and sharing plates, such as venison Scotch egg with Cumberland sauce and beef and bone marrow pies. Dishes at the dining room include white crab brioche ‘soldiers', beef fillet served over bone marrow and truffle toast, and doughnuts with salted pecan caramel and raspberry ripple ice-cream, as well as afternoon tea.
The cocktail bar, led by head mixologist Jeremy Le Blanche, offers classic gin-based cocktails and has its own gin martini trolley.
D&D London chairman and chief executive Des Gunewardena said: "To match the scale and boldness of Hudson Yards we wanted to create a flagship restaurant that embodies the neighbourhood in which it will thrive. With thousands expected to work, live and visit this area, we know one thing to be true: food brings people together, and that is our main focus with Queensyard."
Set in a 11,142 sq ft space designed by CetraRuddy, the team behind D&D's 20 Stories in Manchester and Bluebird London in NYC, Queensyard's interiors take inspiration from contemporary English homes and New York penthouses, featuring both wood and metal, inspired by the original Hudson Rail Yard tracks.
