Corbin & King's new St John's Wood restaurant to be called Soutine

Corbin & King's new St John's Wood restaurant will be called Soutine and open in the new year.

Jeremy King has said he and business partner Chris Corbin's new restaurant will be in-keeping with the strong artistic heritage of the area.

The opening date is a little later than anticipated, due to delays with planning.

Esteemed restaurateur King has previously said the restaurant would be "Colbert meets Fischer's" and would follow those brands' neighbourhood style, but with its own identity.

He had said: "It will be bespoke and not the beginning of a chain."

Earlier this year Corbin & King opened the Wolseley Cafe in Biscester, with King saying the group had "thoroughly enjoyed our first three months".

Chris Corbin and Jeremy King, who were ranked eighth in The Caterer's Top 100 most powerful people in hospitality earlier this year, joined forces in 1981 to acquire Le Caprice. The Ivy followed in 1990 and seafood restaurant J Sheekey in 1998. In the same year Caprice Holdings was sold and Corbin & King remained as non-executive directors until 2002.

They returned in 2003 with the acquisition of the Wolseley followed by Colbert, Brasserie Zédel, the Delauney, Fischer's and Bellanger, all in London. They opened their first hotel, the Beaumont, in 2014.

Last year, Thai-based Minor Hotels paid £58m for a majority shareholding in Corbin & King to enable the business to expand across the UK and throughout Minor's 150-strong hotel portfolio.
