Coal Grill and Bar to open ninth site

Casual dining restaurant group Coal Grill and Bar is set to open its ninth restaurant in November this year.

The company, led by chief executive and founder John Gater, will open a new site in the £250m Southwater development in Telford town centre.

Coal is expected to spend £700,000 on creating the 100-cover, 3,500 sq ft restaurant, which will overlook the water and the park.

Gater said: "We consider our locations carefully when opening a new restaurant. The location of our latest restaurant opening in Telford provides us with the perfect mix of shopping and leisure facilities.

"We have experienced great success in opening in locations with the combination of the two which provides a platform for trading across the day. We have a further six restaurants due to open in 2015 taking the total number of units to 16."

The next site set to open for the group, which specialises chargrilled steaks and chicken, seafood, pizza and pastas, will be in Swindon later this year.
