Bournemouth restaurant takes £1,000 curry order – for customers in Monaco

An Indian restaurant in Bournemouth has taken a £1,000 takeaway order - from customers in Monaco.

The Taj restaurant in Corfe Mullen, Dorset, is to supply £500-worth of tikka and madras curries plus a long list side dishes, all of which will be frozen.

It will charge another £500 to take the order on its 650-mile journey to the customer, according to the Metro.

The Monaco customers are not the only ones using the frozen delivery service.

One couple in France regularly spends £500 on bhuna and balti dishes and drives six hours to collect them from the ferry.

"Anyone can order a frozen takeaway no matter how far away they live," Sammy Islam, the 25-year-old manager of the Taj was quoted as saying. "A lot of people who order our frozen curries are expats. They say they can't find the same taste elsewhere so this seemed like a great idea."
