Bollywood star Asha to open Manchester restaurant

A new Indian restaurant inspired by Bollywood singing star Asha Bhosle is set to open in Manchester, with the singer set to appear at its launch party.

The 6,000 sq ft restaurant, called Asha's, will occupy two floors in what used to be the Baby Grand bar, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Bhosle, who is a noted cook herself, opened her first restaurant in Dubai in 2002 and now has sites across the Middle East. The only UK site so far is in Birmingham.

The launch of the Manchester site will be overseen by Peter Warden, the general manager of Asha's Restaurants International.

Bhosle, 80, was officially recognised in the Guinness Book of World Records 2011 as the most recorded artist in music history, with more than 11,000 songs in 20 Indian languages and in more than 1,000 Bollywood movies.
